Mark Kusiak Memorial Scholarship
To honor the memory of Mark Kusiak, his contributions to General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems,
his affection for Virginia Tech, and recognizing the continuing need for funds to support students at
Virginia Tech, the Mark Kusiak Memorial Scholarship has been established.
Recipients must be U.S. citizens, hold a minimum GPA of 3.5, and be undergraduates enrolled in the
College of Engineering's Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering or the Department of
Computer Science.
Recipients may be offered a paid internship at General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems between
his/her sophomore and junior year or his/her junior and senior year.
Preference shall be given to students based on a) academic merit, b) personal character, c) interest
in a career in the civilian defense industry, and d) demonstrated leadership skills. Preference shall be
given to students who would be first-generation college graduates, i.e. whose parents have not completed
a Bachelor's or equivalent degree. Preference shall also be given to previous recipients who continue to
qualify in subsequent years. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Recipients will be referred to
as Mark Kusiak Scholars.
